Compiling everything we know about modding GTA 6 ahead of the PC release.
Confirmed by Take-Two:
- Their existing modding policy carries forward to GTA VI. Single-player mods on PC are permitted as long as they don't include ripped Take-Two IP.
- GTA Online has a strict no-mods policy. BattlEye-style anti-cheat will detect and ban.
What we don't know yet:
- Whether the existing script-hook frameworks will work on day one or need ports.
- File format changes (RPF, YDR, YTD) - Rockstar typically iterates between titles.
- Whether OpenIV-style tools will get same legal cover as previous titles.
What's likely:
- Vehicle and texture mods will land first (lower complexity).
- Major map overhauls and total conversions take 6-12 months post-release historically.
- Roleplay frameworks (FiveM successors) will have their own ecosystems.
What are you most excited to install on day one? Drop it below.
