Buying & downloading

Everything about purchasing a mod and getting the file onto your machine.

How do I buy or claim a mod?

Paid mods: open the mod page, click "Buy now · $X.XX", sign in (or create an account in 30 seconds - your login is shared with gta6maps.com), complete payment on Stripe's secure checkout. Free mods: click "Get free" - no checkout, the mod drops straight into your library. Either way the file is ready in /library within seconds of confirming.

What payment methods are accepted?

All major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover), Apple Pay, Google Pay, and 25+ local payment methods worldwide depending on your country (iDEAL, SEPA, BLIK, OXXO, Klarna, etc.). Stripe handles currency conversion automatically - you pay in your local currency, the creator gets paid in theirs.

Where do I find what I bought?

Your library is at /library (link in the user menu). Every mod you've purchased appears there with a Download button, file size, version and purchase date. Re-download as many times as you need - there's no per-download cap.

Can I re-download my mod later?

Yes, unlimited times. Each download generates a fresh 5-minute signed URL straight from our private CDN. If a creator publishes a new version, the Download button on the same library entry serves the latest version automatically - and the version dropdown lets you grab any historical version too (useful if a new release breaks something for your setup). No repurchase, ever.

What's a "signed URL" and why does it expire?

Paid mods live in a private storage bucket. When you click Download, we verify your purchase and generate a temporary URL that points directly at your file. It expires 5 minutes later so even if the link leaks, no one else can use it. To download again, just click the button again - a fresh URL is minted instantly.

How do I install a mod after I download it?

Each mod ships with a readme.txt explaining the exact steps. Generally: extract the archive, install any required script hooks (linked in the readme), drop files into your GTA 6 install folder, and launch the game in single-player. Our full step-by-step guide is at /how-to-install-gta-6-mods - covers vehicles, scripts, textures, weapons and more.

Refunds & disputes

Are mod purchases refundable?

All sales are final once the download starts - the file is already on your device. This is industry-standard for digital goods. To protect buyers, every mod page shows full screenshots, ratings, written reviews from other buyers, file size, version and a detailed description so you can decide before you commit.

What if the mod is broken or doesn't match its description?

Email modding@gtanetwork.net from the address you bought with, include the mod link and what's wrong. We'll review the report. If a file is genuinely broken, misrepresented or flagged for malware after delivery, we credit your account in full and the creator faces removal. Reviews on the mod page are also a fast way to surface a recurring issue.

What if I think I was charged in error?

Don't open a chargeback first - that triggers an automatic dispute on Stripe's side which costs $15+ and takes 60 days to resolve. Email us at the support address with the order details and we'll resolve it directly. Chargebacks are a last resort if we can't reach an agreement.

I bought a mod that turned out to contain malware. What now?

Immediately email us with the mod link. We pull the listing, ban the creator, refund every buyer, and submit the file to extra scanners. Every mod is VirusTotal-scanned at upload and only goes live if the scan is clean - but no scanner catches everything, so reports from buyers are critical.

Selling on GTAModding

If you want to list your own mods, see also the dedicated /sell page.

How quickly can I start selling?

Free mods: instantly. Sign up → /sell → upload. No payment integration needed. Paid mods: about 2 extra minutes from "sign up" to "price field unlocked". /dashboard → "Become a seller" → pick country → fill name + DOB + accept Stripe TOS in their hosted form (~90 sec). Once Stripe flips you to charges-enabled, paid pricing unlocks across the site.

Do I need Stripe to publish?

Only for paid mods. Free mods don't touch Stripe at all - anyone with an account can publish unlimited free mods today. You can connect Stripe later and re-price any of your existing free mods from the edit screen. Buyers of free mods skip checkout entirely (a "Get free" button drops the mod straight into their library).

What does Stripe Connect actually require?

Stage 1 (~2 min): name, country, date of birth, accept Stripe's terms. That unlocks paid pricing - you can publish paid mods and start collecting sales. Stage 2 (whenever you want to withdraw): bank account details + identity verification. Sales between stage 1 and stage 2 sit in your Stripe balance, then release once stage 2 completes.

What's the platform fee?

15% flat. Stripe's standard processing fee (~2.9% + $0.30 per US transaction, varies by country) comes out of the seller's share too - we don't absorb it. On a $10 paid sale: $1.50 platform, ~$0.59 Stripe, you receive ~$7.91. Free mods cost nothing on either side. No hidden fees, no per-listing charges, no caps.

When do I get paid?

Once you've finished the bank verification step in Stripe, payouts are automatic on whatever schedule you set in your Stripe Express dashboard (daily, weekly, or monthly - your choice). Stripe transfers your share of each sale, minus their processing fee, directly to your bank in your local currency. There's no "request payout" button - it just happens.

What countries does Stripe Connect support?

48 countries: US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, the EU + EEA + UK + Switzerland (28 countries), Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, India, UAE and Israel. Pick yours when you start onboarding - Stripe locks the country once the account is created. If yours isn't supported, you can still publish free mods now and connect Stripe when they expand.

What's the minimum price for a paid mod?

$0.50 USD or local equivalent (Stripe's actual minimum charge - anything lower and the transaction fails). Cap is $500 by default; contact us for higher. $0 (free) is always allowed.

How long until my mod goes live?

Usually under 5 minutes. Every upload runs through VirusTotal automatically. Clean scan → mod auto-publishes (status = approved). Files over 650 MB (VirusTotal's URL-scan ceiling) auto-publish with a "this file wasn't externally scanned" notice on the listing. Anything VirusTotal flags goes to a human moderator queue.

Can I update a mod after publishing?

Yes. From /dashboard/mods click Edit → "Upload new version". Each version runs through the same VirusTotal scan as the original. Past buyers automatically get every version free - current AND historical, so they can roll back if a new release breaks for them. The library Download button defaults to the latest clean version; the version dropdown gives them any older one too. No repurchase, ever.

Can I delete a mod I've published?

Yes, while no one has bought it. From the edit page, the "Delete mod" button hard-deletes the listing and purges the mod archive, every uploaded version, the thumbnail and all screenshots from our CDN - gone immediately. Once even a single buyer is in (paid or free claim), the delete button disappears: they're entitled to keep downloading. Use the "Discontinued" toggle instead - keeps existing buyers' access while signaling to prospective buyers that you're no longer maintaining the mod.

How do categories and playstyles work for my listing?

Each mod can be listed under up to 3 categories (vehicles, maps, scripts, etc.) and up to 3 playstyles (roleplay, racing, freeroam, fivem, mlo-interiors, cinematic, story, sixm). The first category you select is the "primary" - it's the canonical /category/* placement and shows in your breadcrumb. The others cross-list your mod on those landing pages too, so a roleplay vehicle pack shows up in BOTH /category/vehicles AND /playstyle/roleplay automatically. Tags are separate, free-form keywords for search.

What about taxes?

Stripe handles tax forms for you. US sellers earning $600+ in a year get a 1099-K from Stripe directly. International sellers get whatever their country requires. We don't collect or remit your income tax - that's between you and your country's tax authority.

What if a buyer disputes a charge?

Stripe handles the chargeback workflow on the connected account. We'll surface the dispute in your dashboard and you can submit evidence (download logs, mod description, screenshots). Stripe and the buyer's bank decide. Outcomes vary; don't promise undeliverable features and reply quickly to any disputes that come in.

Can my account be removed?

Yes, for cause: malware uploads, IP infringement, violating Take-Two's modding policy, harassment, or repeated chargebacks. We'll usually warn first; serious violations are immediate. Removed accounts forfeit pending unpaid sales (Stripe holds that balance for refunds + dispute resolution).

Platform & legality

Is modding GTA 6 legal?

Yes, on PC for single-player and private sessions only. Take-Two's official modding policy permits non-commercial personal-use mods. Never use custom mods while connected to GTA Online - that will result in an account ban from Rockstar. Sale of mods themselves is permitted as long as the mod doesn't include ripped Take-Two IP.

Can I use these mods on console (PS5 / Xbox)?

Most mods are PC-only - consoles don't allow arbitrary file injection. A small number of visual presets and audio packs work on consoles via approved creator channels. Every mod page shows exact platform compatibility so you know before you buy.

How do I report a creator or mod?

Every mod page has a Report button. Pick the reason (malware, IP infringement, broken file, misrepresented, etc.) and add a note. Reports go to our moderation queue and we review within 24 hours. You can also email us directly for urgent issues.

Can I resell a mod I bought?

No. Purchase grants you a personal-use license - you can install on your own machine but you can't redistribute, resell, or include the mod in a pack without the creator's permission. See /terms for the full license language.

What about IP infringement?

Mods containing ripped Take-Two assets, copyrighted logos, or third-party IP without permission get DMCA-removed immediately. Submit takedowns via /dmca with the standard DMCA notice fields. Counter-notices go to the same address.

Is my account shared with gta6maps.com?

Yes. Both sites use the same accounts database - sign up once and your login works on both. Profile (username, display name, avatar, bio, social links) and email-verification state are shared. Mod purchases on gtamodding stay on gtamodding; map downloads on gta6maps stay on gta6maps. Connecting Stripe on gtamodding has no effect on gta6maps.

Why do I have to verify my email before signing in?

It cuts down on bot signups, throwaway accounts, and the kind of automated abuse that makes a marketplace miserable for everyone. The verification email lands in 10-30 seconds; click the link and you're in. Same email is honored on gta6maps.com too.

How do I become a Verified creator?

List 4+ mods with an average rating ≥4.0 across at least 50 reviews. The Verified badge appears automatically once you cross those thresholds. Higher tiers (Pro Creator, Legend) unlock at higher milestones.
