About racing mods

GTA 6 racing mods cover everything from the ground up: race tracks and circuits (street circuits, drag strips, off-road rallies, complete FIA-style courses), handling overhauls that replace the game's default arcade handling with physics-modeled weight transfer and cornering, telemetry HUDs (split times, gear displays, tire temperature) and performance-vehicle add-ons designed for cornering grip over visual drift effects.

Many hardcore sim racers run at least three mods: a base handling overhaul, a HUD and a car pack with tuned cars. See the Most Sold Vehicles for popular performance packs driven by the community.

Use the Scripts category for time-attack timer scripts and lap-recording utilities that pair with your racing mods. If you're doing multiplayer races, check out the FiveM playstyle and Servers for race-server framework resources.

Common questions about racing mods

Do GTA 6 racing mods change vehicle handling?

Many do. Handling overhauls live in handling.meta and replace the default arcade-feel values with weight, traction, drive-type and brake-force settings more akin to real cars. Be sure to stack them carefully - two mods that both edit handling.meta will conflict.

Can I race against AI with these mods?

Yes. Race-track mods typically come with AI traffic controllers. For more challenging AI, combine a race track with difficulty / AI behavior overhauls from the Scripts category.

What about online racing?

Multiplayer racing generally operates on a dedicated server framework (e.g. RAGE MP or alt:V), often using custom race-mode scripts. Never load any racing mods while playing GTA Online - you risk getting banned.

Are drift mods racing or freeroam?

Both. Drift-tuned cars and tracks belong in racing. Sandbox drift maps with no rules belong in Freeroam. Tag them accordingly when uploading.
