Critical info for anyone who modded their game and wants to play GTA Online.

Short answer: if you ever loaded a mod with the game's exe modified or with a script hook present, do not connect to GTA Online until you've removed everything and verified files via your launcher.

Long answer: Rockstar's BattlEye anti-cheat scans for known modified DLLs, .asi script hooks, and files altered from the official baseline. Detection is signature-based for known mods (~24h after a mod gets popular) plus heuristic.

Safe modding workflow:

  1. Keep two GTA 6 installs (vanilla + modded)
  2. OR snapshot your vanilla install before modding
  3. Always disconnect from PSN/XSL/Rockstar Social Club before launching modded

When in doubt: don't go online.
