Take-Two's modding policy

Take-Two has an official modding policy that permits personal-use, single-player mods that don't infringe on IP. Every mod on GTAModding.net complies with this policy by default - that's why the marketplace is structured around single-player content and why tags like *online* get flagged at submission.

Can you sell paid mods?

Yes - paid mods are permitted as long as they:

• Don't include ripped Take-Two IP (audio, models, textures from Rockstar games)
• Don't copy protected code from official GTA 6 binaries
• Don't enable cheating in GTA Online or any official Rockstar service

What about GTA Online?

Loading any custom mod while connected to GTA Online triggers Rockstar's anti-cheat and results in an account ban - usually within hours. The pattern: launch offline → play with mods → switch back to vanilla before connecting online. Every mod page on the marketplace shows whether the mod is single-player only.

Multiplayer frameworks (FiveM-style)

Dedicated multiplayer frameworks (FiveM and the upcoming SixM for GTA 6) run on private servers separate from official Rockstar services. They're permitted because they don't interact with or modify GTA Online. Don't confuse them with loading mods *into* GTA Online directly - that's still a ban.

DMCA takedowns

If you receive a takedown notice for your mod, file via our DMCA page - we review and advise within 48 hours. Counter-notices go to the same address. Mods containing copyrighted third-party assets (Take-Two IP, brand logos, ripped game content) get DMCA-removed immediately on receipt of a valid notice.

Console modding
