MLO is short for Map Load Object - a completely modeled walkable interior that loads in as you enter it. The base game includes only a few interiors you can walk in (your apartment, some mission locations). MLO mods allow you to add hundreds of new interiors: restaurants, nightclubs, mansions, police stations, hospitals, garages, custom hideouts, retail shops, gas stations.
MLO interiors serve as the foundation for any quality roleplay server. Common questions about mlo interiors mods
What's the difference between an MLO and a YMAP?
An MLO is essentially a fully-modeled interior with collision, lighting and props included. YMAP is the file format that loads custom map geometry into the world (used for both interiors and exterior props). Most MLO mods will come with both .ymap and .ybn (collision) files.
Do MLOs work in single-player?
Yes - the majority of MLOs work in offline Story Mode; however, some have been optimized for FiveM streaming. These may have issues loading cleanly without minor adjustments. See the compatibility information on the mod page.
Can I use MLOs in GTA Online?
No. If you load custom interiors in GTA Online, you will be banned instantly. MLOs only work in Story Mode or on private servers (FiveM, RAGE MP, alt:V, upcoming SixM).
How do I install an MLO?
OpenIV is used to inject the .ymap, .ybn and texture files into the correct RPF archive. Full paths can be found in the Install Guide. Some larger MLOs require HeapAdjuster 600 in order to prevent crashing on load.
