Story Mods
Free and paid GTA 6 story mods that extend the base campaign. These single-player story mods contain additional custom missions, branching dialogue trees, story DLC packs, story-mode side-quests, what-if scenarios, alternate endings, scripted mission set-pieces, and sometimes full-blown self-contained mini-DLC story arcs. Many contain community-recorded voice acting, custom cutscenes and unique rewards. For anyone who needs something new to play once they've beaten GTA 6's Story Mode twice.
About story mods
Story mods include new missions, side-quests, branching storylines and entire story DLC packs for GTA 6's single-player campaign. Many are coded in C# or Lua and load via Rage Script Hook. The Scripts category contains a wider selection of scripted content.
The largest story mods can approach mini-DLCs in scale: 5-10+ hours of additional content with voice acting, cutscenes, branching consequences, and exclusive rewards. Smaller mods can insert single missions or explore what-if scenarios (alternate endings, deleted-scene reconstructions, fan-fiction storylines).
Story mods can only be used in single-player. They function by running in Story Mode using the save state of the base game. Do not attempt to use them while in GTA Online. Please read Is GTA 6 modding legal? for the full policy.
Most story-mod authors include install instructions as their trigger conditions differ (some start automatically when you arrive at a spot, some require dialing a phone-call code, some add an entry to your contacts list). Follow the readme directions closely and look for community advice in the mod page comments.
Common questions about story mods
Do story mods work alongside the base game?
Yes - they are meant to layer on top of the base game. Story mods simply add new missions / contacts / locations to supplement the base campaign rather than replace it. You are free to complete the base story and then load story mods to play through more content.
Can I play story mods in GTA Online?
No. Story mods can only be played in single-player. If you load them into GTA Online, it activates Rockstar's anti-cheat software and you will get banned. Only use them in Story Mode while offline.
How long are GTA 6 story mods?
Can vary wildly. The largest community story-DLC packages cover 5-10+ hours; single missions usually run 20-60 minutes; alternate reality scenarios may be as little as 5-15 minute set-pieces. Runtime is generally noted in the mod description and reviews.
Do story mods include voice acting?
Well-funded ones do (typically with community voice actors providing VO). Smaller mods may use text-only dialogue or generated voices. Look at the mod page to see if it has VO before installing if that's important to you.
