Best Tools for GTA 6 Modding

Every GTA 6 modder needs five tools to ship anything beyond drag-and-drop installs: a file browser, a script loader, a trainer, a memory extender and a texture viewer. All five are free and live in the Tools category.

OpenIV - the Swiss army knife

OpenIV lets you browse RPF archives, edit textures, convert models and pack new mods. If you only install one tool, it's this one - almost every install path on the How to Install Mods landing page uses it.

Rage Script Hook - runs custom code

Rage Script Hook is the framework that loads custom C# and Lua scripts into the running game. Nearly every mod in the Scripts category depends on it. Install once, update only when Rockstar patches the game (every major update tends to break it temporarily).

HeapAdjuster 600 - for heavy mod stacks

HeapAdjuster 600 extends the memory heap so you can run heavy mod packs without crashing on load. Install it before stacking multiple texture packs or vehicle packs. 90% of "random crash on startup" bugs disappear once it's in.

A trainer - for fast iteration

A trainer like MenyoV or Simple Trainer speeds up testing - teleport instantly, spawn vehicles, toggle weather, debug mod behaviour on the fly. Pick whichever interface you prefer; both ship in the Tools category.

Once you've got the basics

Browse the full Tools category for niche utilities - texture viewers, model converters, RPF packagers, memory tweakers. If you're building your first vehicle, jump to Creating Your First Vehicle Mod. Building something paid? See Selling Mods - Creator Payout Guide.
